Why Commissioning?

Commissioning is performed to ensure that the energy related systems, such as the mechanical HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems, equipment, and controls, are installed and perform in accordance with the Owner requirements and engineers’ designs. In conjunction with the HVAC systems, the building envelope must be evaluated to maximize proper HVAC system operations and energy efficiency. Some of the benefits of commissioning include; reduced energy usage, lower operating costs, and improved occupant productivity.

The Commissioning process is implemented throughout the pre-design, design, construction and testing, (installation and performance), phases. The Project Team is comprised of the Owner, Architect, Engineers, Contractor, and Commissioning Authority (CxA).

The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.
